I'm reaching out to send my phone in for repairs and want to find a method that erases everything completely, as a factory reset isn't feasible. I understand this might not be the right approach.

Did you secure all the information on your device? When using Marshmallow or the latest versions, it does this automatically. You're correct about performing a factory reset—it doesn't manage deleting or rewriting data. There are certain applications you can install to assist with overwriting data.

Look for secure erase in the Play Store. Ishredder looks promising.

You can also populate the storage with random information and later delete it. This makes recovery more difficult.
