Recently, I discovered that the MSI B Series Motherboards don’t support overclocking. Then I came across a new Gigabyte board called "Gigabyte Z790 UD AX." It claims to support DDR5 and overclocking as well. Here are my questions: 1. Is it PCIe 4.0 or PCIe 5.0? The specs seem inconsistent across sites. 2. Can XMP/Memory overclocking be used? It supports XMP but some users report problems. 3. Will the processor be able to be overclocked? There’s no mention of power needs for that. 4. Does the Intel i7 12700Kf work with it? 5. Is the AMD RX 580 compatible? 6. How many M.2 SSD slots are available? I’m confused by the lots of conflicting information online, so I’m not sure I can rely on those sites.

Both options are available. The highest tier is Gen 5, while everything else falls into Gen 4. It really depends on how intense your XMP settings need to be. The platform can handle memory overclocking, but I doubt a 7200 will perform well unless you're aiming for maximum speed. While it does allow overclocking, 12th generation chips typically run close to their maximum frequency and aren't worth the investment unless you're using Z-series boards. Those offer better consistency with lower voltages. Overall, it makes sense to opt for a budget B-series board if you need memory tuning, as they still support overclocking.

No, it doesn't apply. The slot must support either PCIe 5.0 or PCIe 4.0, not both simultaneously.

All M.2 ports support PCIe Gen 4, while just the highest PCIe x16 port offers Gen 5 features. Regardless, you can install Gen 4 SSDs into Gen 5 slots without any problems. PCIe technology is both backward and forward compatible, so if a device fits, it should function properly.
