I checked streaming media yesterday and noticed the stream froze unexpectedly. In W11 Pro (version 22000.co_release.210604-1628), the Task Manager showed high outbound traffic on Ethernet, but Resource Monitor didn’t reveal any unusual apps or connections. Since I’m using a new installation with some protection, I’m unsure what was happening. My goal is to find an open-source tool that can monitor incoming and outgoing traffic clearly, so I can identify individual applications. Thanks in advance for your help.

For in-depth examination, consider using Wireshark, though interpreting network data can be challenging without familiarity. To get a fast snapshot, try tools like Glasswire, https://www.glasswire.com/, while Resource Monitor may already display incoming and outgoing traffic sources.

I acknowledge your concerns. However, a common practice when starting a new Windows setup is navigating to Settings and Control Panel to fine-tune settings, such as turning off Windows Update, Advanced options, Delivery Optimization, and permitting downloads from other devices. After using Chris Titus Tech and n1snt scripts for a clean install, I adjusted the Advanced Options to restrict unnecessary activity. Previously, after months of use, I checked system stats but couldn’t confirm if the issue persisted. At the time, I examined Task Manager, focusing on the Network column and then I/O reads or CPU column to identify which application was handling uploads. Unfortunately, I didn’t catch it this time.

Wireshark includes a *.paf.exe -- PortableApps file that works great on USB drives I've used for years. Thanks again!
