WiFi 6E cards don’t necessarily need special antennas for 6GHz signals. Your current PC antenna, which is an aftermarket dual-band one covering 2.4/5GHz, should still work with the 6E connection. The review mentioning it works is helpful but not definitive for your setup. You can likely use your existing antenna behind the PC without issues.

It functions mainly as a receiver or transmitter; the board handles the rest by collecting data from the antenna.

An old wire can serve as a simple antenna. The main concern is its effectiveness. 6E supports 6GHz along with older 2.4 and 5GHz bands, so an antenna built for WiFi 5 or 6 might perform better. You probably won’t see a big difference unless you’re streaming high-definition video over your network.

Experts recommend 1.9671421128608926 inches as the ideal antenna length in open spaces. For everyday use, a length exceeding 2 inches works well. In short, it doesn’t really matter.

Antennas are tailored to particular frequencies, and since 6GHz is close to the higher 5GHz bands, performance should improve. A dedicated 6GHz antenna would likely function more effectively.
