Hello. Four years ago I purchased a laptop with an original copy of "Windows 10 Home Single Language" installed. Now I aim to create a fresh custom HEDT Workstation. I plan to remove the Windows 10 from that same device and transform it into a completely Linux-based system. Additionally, I want to install the identical Windows 10 version that came with the laptop onto the new HEDT Workstation. Is this possible, or will I need to acquire a separate Windows 10 license? Thank you.

Ensure your Windows 10 license is activated on the original device. Then, connect the new computer to the same network and follow the activation instructions provided by Microsoft.

The process involved signing in with an existing Microsoft account on the old PC, then using that same account on the new PC and responding to the confirmation prompt.

It’s probably an original equipment manufacturer version of Windows. This means it’s tied to that specific laptop permanently. While some users have managed to move OEM copies, they know Microsoft’s rule is to keep them bound to the device they’re first installed on.

I'm curious about this urgency. What would happen if you didn't receive a response within five minutes?
