No AMD? in that case 1650s (maybe) - 1070 You don't want 40fps.

That's not a very good decision, unless you have a compatibility issue I would fully recommend a used RX580, you get super reliable 60fps gaming (especially in 1080p) and 8GB VRAM which should be plenty for editing/ other graphics intensive work.

He was very explicit about favoring Nvidia. Why the confusion? It doesn't matter how much you pay for it in this case. Who knows, perhaps he owns a Gsync monitor, or his previous work with AMD is so bad that he prefers to avoid them.
