Required hardware for smooth performance at 1440p and 144Hz
current gaming setup: Ryzen 3600 with DDR4 2x8GB, 3600MHz clock speed, 2070 Super specs. Performance may vary based on game requirements.
It really varies by game. Some titles make that scenario impossible.
Which game? CS:GO would barely fit, while RDR2 feels nearly impossible to reach.
Your setup (5GHz CPU, 2080 Ti) works well mainly for 1440p at 120Hz during intense gaming sessions.
I'll make this one quick and simple. The Specs to accopmlish that, do not exist. And won't probably exist for the next 5+ years. And that probably with "only" High Settings. Ultra? Yea. Not even 60 fps will be possible there. You will find at least one Game, that will bring a 2080 ti down to <60 fps in certain scenarios at 1440p / Ultra. Take the old GTA 5. I've seen a Titan X pascal (like slightly above a 1080 ti) droping to 22 fps in 1080p resolution. And a 2080 ti doesn't provide 600-800% more performance. There is always a Way to bring a GPU down. My advice: Learn what Graphic settings are, and use them. No Game is optimized for Ultra, and Ultra settings often looks less than 1-2% better than High. But reduce your fps by 20-50%. If your Aim is 1440p + (nearly) 144 fps~ at (nearly) highest settings: Buy the fastest GPU you can afford, and try to make the best out of it. Simple as that Edit: I am NOT saying, that there is no Game you will reach that. There are many Games, that will run at 144 fps at Maxed out Settings, and you won't even need a 2080 ti for that. BUT: As long a Game exists, that brings a GPU down, you can't say that statement anymore. That's the point where "it's not enough". Since you didn't specify a certain Game, i assume you mean all Games - like "not thinking about anything, 144 fps maxed out everywhere, period". And that is simply not possible. Anyone who plays 1440p, and gets 144 fps on Maxed out settings, simply does not use maxed out Settings. At least talking about those Games, that really destroy any GPU. That's why my advice is so important: Use Graphic settings, and find your own personal sweet spot beween Performance (fps) and Graphic Quality. If you absolutely NEED 144 fps, then simply reduce graphic settings.
