Hello, I'm planning to purchase an XFX RX9070XT. I noticed it requires a power supply with 800+ watts. I currently use a Pure Power 12M 750W PSU, and I'm curious if running it will cause any issues. My CPU is an R7 7700X.

You might manage it in the short run, but defensively you can upgrade that PSU. Its power capacity is about 500 watts, though this doesn't cover RAM, RGB motherboards, fans, or other components.

This model exceeds the minimum requirements, which is helpful since many users have poor power supplies. Your version stands out as a high-quality choice!

This card won’t exert much force to fully utilize the 750-watt PSU you’ve paired with your 7700X.

It reaches a maximum of 420 watts and that's fine.

I'm confident your setup works fine. The 7950X3D and 7900XTX are handling everything well with the RM850x, staying under the 600W limit. The AIO and multiple fans are managing heat efficiently, and I haven't faced any problems. Brands usually suggest using a slightly more powerful PSU since some models don’t meet their promises or fail under stress.

Are you okay? I heard that sudden spikes in power can cause damage. Are you safe?

The raw power is adequately strong. Even with spikes, it stays comfortably under the PSU's capacity. It's also not the case that Nvidia is damaging the 12V power connector or relying on outdated 8-pin designs.

In the worst case an intense surge (over 1000W) will simply cut power to the device, using OCP protection.
