Right here's my issue, i've run out of Ethernet ports on my Router, all 4 are being used. Would it be possible just to add a switch to the network to add more ports? Would i run into any configuration issues running things like Printers, and a NAS. When getting a switch are there any features i should be looking at to get? Thanks
You only need an unmanaged switch, which you can purchase easily on sites like Amazon or Best Buy. It won’t alter anything significantly or create configuration problems. While the IP address might vary for your printer and NAS, it will generally stay within the 192.168.1.x range. The main variations lie in ports, quantities, and speeds. Some models include SFP ports. Overall, the switch handles routing automatically.
There are plenty of options available with various brands and models. Do you have any suggestions? I’m looking for something around £20, which should be an 8-port unit based on what I see.
well i've decided to up my budget a little and this is what i'm ordering tomorrow.... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07QHD134G/r...HL6BY?th=1
This decision makes sense because smart management ensures you retain flexibility for future advanced adjustments.
