Hello everyone, I'm working with a b450m pro4 and currently running a ryzen 3 2200g. My plan is to upgrade to a ryzen 5 3600, which means I need to refresh my BIOS. I intend to install the 3600 later, but I want to make sure my system is compatible with the new chip. Checking the BIOS update guides for the b450m shows that newer versions aren't meant for pinnacle, summit or raven ridge processors. Since my 2200g is a raven ridge model, those updates won't work. The list mentions compatibility for 3000 series, 3.4 for matisse, and 3.5 as the latest fit for my current processor. Should I upgrade to BIOS 3.5 first, then update after installing the 3600? Also, regarding the "AMD all in 1 with VGA driver" suggestion—this seems aimed at APU devices with built-in graphics, which my 2200g likely doesn’t have. With a GTX 1660 already installed, I assume the GPU will handle display without needing the VGA driver. Is that accurate?
Ensure you receive version 3600 before proceeding. Updating prior to that risks losing support for the 2200G, which could prevent POST functionality.
