I need to widen my internet coverage to an outbuilding that serves as a home for my family. I currently have fiber optic connections at 1gb speeds. The structure is about 100 feet from my house. I’m considering the https://store.ui.com/collections/operato...m-5ac-gen2 bridge option. Once inside, I’m unsure what to do—should I run new cable from a switch to the bedrooms adding another hundred dollars, or use the existing https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07953S2FD?psc...ct_details (TP-Link extender) and connect it directly inside? I’m worried about compatibility issues since I’m not very comfortable with networking. I also want to keep costs in mind, as I’m managing a budget of four grand for this move and relocation.

Airmax items typically employ a customized adaptation of the WiFi standard tailored for outdoor use, making compatibility issues likely. Investing in this upgrade is strongly advised—it offers a more reliable connection compared to alternatives.

Are there any alternatives or suggestions you might consider before moving forward with a complete upgrade? Your setup has direct access, but the metal isn’t penetrating well—signs of signal loss around 2-3mb inside and 400+ outside. You’d need to route from the outside into the building somehow. An underground cable isn’t feasible because of your location, driveway issues, and the rocky Missouri ground.
