I need a home NAS with only wired ports, no built-in Wi-Fi. I want it in a room where I can't add network access. My router is an Asus RT-AC68U. I'm considering using it as an access point instead of a full router. I'd like something that connects directly to the NAS via a wired adapter—preferably 5GHz and AC, though 100Mbps works fine. Gigabit would be great but not necessary.

linksys offers a variety of range extenders (bah-dum-tish) that might let you repurpose their ethernet port for wired connections, though the details are limited in their guides. IN NOTE: they mention it somewhat loosely in promotional content.

TP Link's regular consumer products often show wireless performance similar to a rotary phone, but I don't have personal experience with the nano version.

It's not the top choice, but for 25 dollars it works fine

I keep their €20 "mainstream" wireless router on the shelf as a temporary backup, but I wouldn't suggest using it for anything else—it's better to treat it as a disposable item.

@Spylock , Here's a real solution; the Netgear N600: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005N6XBDO/ I had the exact same question and this worked almost perfectly for me.
