Yesterday I assembled my PC and upon powering it up it began emitting a high-pitched sound similar to a kettle boiling. I used a BeQuiet Dark Base Pro 900 rev.2 case with a slider controlling fan speeds. At full speed the noise disappeared, but once I switched to silent or normal mode the pitch returned quickly. The case features a PWM controller near the cable management area, so could that be the source? I disabled all fans to check if the issue persisted or if the fans themselves were the problem, but it only stopped when they ran at full speed—which isn’t ideal since the case sits close to my ear and isn’t very quiet. Here are the specs: Intel i9-12900k, Noctua NH-D15, Asus Rog Strix Z690-e, G.Skill Ripjaws S5, 64GB DDR-5 CL36, 5200mhz, Samsung 980 Pro, Samsung 970 Evo Plus, Seagate Barracuda 2TB, 7200 RPM, MSI RTX 3090ti, GAMING TRIO, BeQuiet Dark Base Pro 900 Rev.2, Seasonic FOCUS Plus Gold, 1000W, plus an extra fan for exhaust. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!

Might be coil whine, though it's not typically very sharp. A recently installed power strip had this issue; hitting it a few times cleared it up. Not advised for your setup—give it a solid hit instead.

The fan controller is linked to a 4-pin PWM plug on the motherboard, and the SATA power is connected to the power supply unit.

Check if the switches on the fan controller are in silent or performance mode. Adjust to the opposite setting and observe the results.

I attempted that earlier, though it seemed to happen, but it didn’t work out.

Have you checked where the noise originates? Could it be the fan controller, the slider, the PSU, or another component? Also, test by turning off the fans one by one and observing the change—it might indicate a faulty fan. If it's a recent unit and nothing resolves the issue, consider reaching out to BeQuiet support; it could be a production flaw.

I observed the noise decreasing after turning off each fan one by one. The issue was located in the fan hub of the case. I connected all fans directly to the motherboard, which resolved the problem completely. I’m grateful for the assistance from everyone who helped. Cheers!
