Request for a failure to launch analysis
Searching for a solution while unsure if it's the latest Windows update, adding a Shield controller to my PC, or another cause. Over the past week, I've faced difficulties launching Fallout 4 and other games like JC3 crash. Sometimes only the monitor shuts down, other times I crash to the desktop with the game running. It's really frustrating. Anyone else experienced similar problems?
I also attempted to check the game cache's integrity, switched to vanilla ini files, experimented with different windowed modes, and reduced the resolution to 1080p. It didn't help. I think it could be a mod, but since JC3 runs vanilla and the game crashes the most on desktop, it might be worth investigating further.
Likely you're referring to Windows 10, the current operating system version.
Sure, it seems like a clear update is needed. Maybe we should clean up and begin over.
Resolved the Fallout 4 launch problem. Seems like a clash with turning off the intro video. 1.3 didn’t seem to like that either. The crash and launch issues don’t appear linked... I completely removed the ini files and let them rebuild, which might help in-game too. Still no clear reason for the JC3 crashes. It’s frustrating—I lose the video but the sound keeps going, making it feel like my ass is being handed to me.
I experienced constant issues after using my shield controller on my PC. Dying light would miss in-game audio and occasionally the game would freeze. The only solution was connecting the controller once the game had fully loaded.
