Do you know if purchasing Plex Pass for your phone is necessary? Also, do you still require Plex Premium? Thanks!

Plex Pass equals Plex Premium if you own the premium version. You receive the iOS and Android applications at no cost, plus early client/server versions a few weeks ahead of others. I own Plex Premium. I run a script on my server named PlexWatch that sends push notifications to my phone with the IP address and title of the content being watched. This is handy when sharing your library.

They’re identical versions, so I’m confident about what happened. When the service launched, it was named Plex Premium, and later it shifted to Plex Pass. Probably just a name change, but they’re essentially the same product.

Sure, buying the Plex Pass app on WP8.1 unlocks all the additional features too. Confirm you're correct.

I'm not sure about purchasing it through the app store since I bought my PlexPass subscription directly on their website for $3.99/month. Switching to a yearly or lifetime plan would make more sense. I tried monthly just to see how it works. I really like the extra features, even if they don't seem to justify the cost. I had to log in to my Plex account before completing the purchase, but now signing in on any device activates the premium features, including those on the server.

EDIT: I moved from monthly to yearly this month. If I'm still using Plex next year, I plan to upgrade to a lifetime plan and still save a bit.

I paid for premium and received the PlexPass for free on Android, but I had to purchase the Windows 8 version of Plex, which is worth every penny despite its nice design.

The question is whether receiving the Plex Pass app for a mobile device grants you access to Plex Premium for free.

@ Xtreme Gamer - https://plex.tv/features you’re only getting the Roku and Android versions at no cost, while iOS remains a paid option, and I’m guessing the Windows 8 app isn’t free either. Are you asking about Plex Premium? Plex Media Center for Windows is free, so why not just install the Windows version instead of buying the Windows app from the store? Unless you own a tablet, in that case...it’s still worth it. I had to pay for the iOS app before signing up for PlexPass; I thought getting it free would have been easier.
