Your VivoBook laptop is having some issues with Linux. It keeps showing rainbow screens and refusing to boot into the desktop environment, even after switching graphics settings. Recently it started working after changing from hybrid to integrated graphics, but still freezes when you enter your password or switch to GNOME. You tried updating via POP_OS settings, but it reported no firmware updates available. The terminal method also didn’t help. It seems the system might need a firmware update, though it’s unclear if any are currently supported. You may want to check with the manufacturer for possible BIOS or firmware options.

Checked the ASUS laptop page on Amazon and purchased it from the site.
Not every laptop comes with all the support from the start by Nix, even if the main parts seem okay. That doesn’t mean everything works smoothly—mostly only Win10 drivers are available. It’s a common saying in the Nix community, but switching to a more supported distro like Ubuntu or Mint could make a big difference.
I've faced issues with Ubuntu too, worse than POP_OS. For the temporary rainbow screen after logging in, try resetting the display settings or updating your graphics drivers.
Sorry buddy, it's not the 1st system out there that's like that. Depending on how well versed you are with *nix, you could try a liveUSB of something like RedHat, or if you are feeling brave, Arch. They are not .deb based, so you *may* have better luck.
