Hello, I understand your concern. You're experiencing a memory issue where only 24GB appears out of 32GB. The BIOS shows D1 and D2 as N/A. After replacing the two sticks—one from your old kit (red one) and one new—you still see no improvement. No changes after updating the BIOS. Could you share more details about your setup or any error messages? Thank you, Jonathan.
You attempted to insert two red sticks into D1&D2, but it didn’t work. Based on that, it seems your memory module might have a bad RAM channel. That’s my most likely conclusion.
I didn't attempt to pair the reds with the reds and blacks with the blacks. I'll give it another shot. Who knows? Jonathan
Replace two functional RAM sticks in those positions and test them. If they don’t fit, check for bent pins or damaged contacts on the motherboard. Also consider whether your motherboard came with faulty channels.
I placed a kit on one side of my motherboard and the other on the opposite side, but nothing changed. The D1&D1 values remain unchanged. It looks like all my memory functions properly since I can see the black memory in A1, A2, B1, and B2. There appears to be some dirt on one of the images; I’ll try removing it. I noticed the issue—a pin is bent on D1. I’ll reach out to an electronics expert to see if it can be fixed. Thanks @Domoretech, I’m okay with 24GB of RAM. I won’t upgrade to a new $500 motherboard just for a 2014 computer that I plan to replace in a few years.
