I reviewed the Hardware Info and spotted an unusual power reporting issue. This could hurt my performance negatively, correct? To resolve the power reporting deviation on your Ryzen 7 3800X with ASRock X370 Gaming K4, what steps should I take?

Your power deviation at 3700x seems unrelated to your actual performance. hwinfo64 introduces updates that can cause confusion for those not familiar with recent changes. If your CPU scores match other 3800x' results, everything appears normal.

First, the percentage there is only accurate under an all core load. What it says while idle is meaningless. Second, assuming it's still off, there's not much you can actually do about it. MSI is the only motherboard manufacturer I'm aware of that allows you to tweak the value that's reported to the CPU, and even then it's black magic. I managed to find the right setting in my MSI BIOS mostly by accident, and even then, it took much fiddling to dial in the correct mA value to use. Third, it doesn't truly matter. If it reports to low, that just means the CPU will think it has more power headroom than it actually has, but there's still a limit to the power it can actually draw, and there's still safety measures in the CPU itself to keep it from drawing too much power and burning itself up. There's always some variance, regardless, as manufacturers never really get it perfect. It's also worth mentioning that the manufacturers that have tried to maliciously report a value too low (ASRock, looking at you), have only done so on preproduction BIOSes when sending out review units. Once the boards go to market, they almost invariably update the BIOS with a more acceptable value. Dirty, sure, but it means it's not really an issue for consumers, for the most part.

the power deviation is only accurate when all cores are at 100% load. So run prime95 or something and check if its anywhere 100% accuracy, then there is no problem. Also this isnt a user accessible option, its only something the motherboard vendor can "fix" (although unlikely there is something to fix tbh)

Thank you for the details. I have a 5600x in X570 Unify with PRD too high. The default BIOS shows 118% in CB23 nT and 119% in P95 Small. I want to understand why it doesn’t reach 100%. Could you describe or share a screenshot of the BIOS adjustment settings in X570 Unify?

Yep. It refers to CPU VDD Full Scale Current and C PU VDD Telemetry Offset Value. Based on what I understood, full scale current should match your EDC value. Adjusting the telemetry offset is necessary until it's accurate. Minor tweaks matter a lot, so avoid extreme changes. I recall my value was 20mA, but it may vary with different settings. For instance, modifying a PBO limit requires recalibrating the number again.
