Reporting a problem with signal reception.
I recently discovered how different coloured lights might show up on your motherboard when something goes wrong with your computer. At first, I thought everything was fine and decided to investigate just in case. I removed the GPU only to find the clip near the PCIe port was glowing. This left me puzzled after an hour of troubleshooting. Eventually, I realized it was just a cosmetic component on the board. I wasn’t sure why Asus would design a special clip for that part—maybe they thought it needed to stand out.
I tried several fixes: swapping RAM slots, checking power connections, re-seating the GPU and CPU, changing from DisplayPort to HDMI, switching monitors, connecting the monitor directly to the board instead of the GPU, verifying power supply connections, applying thermal paste again, and even banging my head against the wall for inspiration.
Here’s what I’ve tried without success:
1. Swapped RAM into different slots, testing each stick separately
2. Double-checked all power cables
3. Reinstalled GPU and CPU
4. Changed display port to HDMI
5. Switched monitors
6. Connected the monitor directly to the motherboard instead of the GPU
7. Tested power supply connections
8. Applied thermal paste again
9. Got no luck with the PSU
10. Tried unconventional methods like head banging for ideas
My current specs: MSI GTX 1660 Ti, Ryzen 7 2700X, Asus Prime A320M-K (a bit regrettable), GSKILL 16GB (2x8), 3200MHz, Gigabyte 400W Bronze Non-Modular.
Some theories I considered:
1. The motherboard might have suffered physical damage during reassembly (even if I can’t see it).
2. Maybe the cable management system is to blame for its current state.
3. The PSU could be acting up, though I haven’t noticed any issues before.
I’m still trying to figure out what’s happening and need help understanding the situation.
