I frequently encounter the same error when attempting to run the Windows update tool. Even after using the installation assistant on Microsoft’s site to switch to Windows 11, the process stalled at the download stage with no progress for three hours. My past interactions with Microsoft support were frustrating, so I’m hoping you can help me. Additionally, my computer has several other strange, buggy issues that aren’t clear if they’re connected. I’m comfortable handling hardware tasks but find the software confusing.

It seems your system might be damaged. I recommend performing a clean installation of Windows 11 to fix the issues.

You're referring to creating an installation media and simulating the process of setting up an operating system on a fresh computer.

Yes, that's accurate. You might also try using the installation media to check if it can repair the damaged files.

I consistently encounter WU failures this way, and the outcome usually leads to another reinstall. There’s a long list of solutions you might attempt, but most fail. It’s wiser to accept the loss and restart instead.

basically what I went through. A solution seems doable, though you'll probably have to tackle other issues that don't turn out so well. Still, it looks like a good chance to start fresh since the user already planned to switch to Windows 11.

No, using a corrupted installation won't help you download media properly—it could cause more problems.
