Recently my laptop has been consuming a lot of RAM even when not in use. Currently, I'm using Opera GX and it's showing 83% memory utilization with five tabs open. My system specs include an Intel i5 10210U, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 1TB HDD, and an MX250 2GB graphics card. The Dell Inspiron 15 5590 was the image taken when the laptop was idle. I'll include other running processes as well. Can you help me with this? Please.

Requires more than 16GB of RAM. Based on my observations, Windows typically needs at least 6-7GB even when idle.

McAfee likely contributes significantly to the issue. Are you using this malware anti-virus software?

It seems like you're wondering if the problem is related to Windows 11.

My dad keeps pushing for antivirus software. I have no choice. It also proved useful when I unknowingly downloaded malware from a dodgy repacks site. Updated February 14, 2023 by W41K3R_66894

It seems the problem isn't related to Windows itself but rather a low RAM situation. Even without an 8GB stick, a 4GB one can help. Ideally, two identical sticks would be better, but using the same manufacturer's Windows Defender is just as effective if not more. Installing another antivirus will only slow things down and consume more resources. Remind your parents that Windows Defender is a solid antivirus option and includes a firewall.

Doesn't Windows Defender meet your needs? There are more effective options available.

I understand... you have one soldered stick and another upgrade option. It's okay to replace the 4GB stick with a 16GB one. I'll discuss this with him about McAfee. Thanks!
