Yeah, this concept is becoming more problematic. I've used PSU and a mining rig before—I wouldn't consider buying second-hand safety gear like this, especially knowing it was used in that manner!

Cheap junk remains junk.
If we were both involved in this deal, you’d actually have to pay me to get them away from your hands.
And then I’d just send them off to the city recycling center, making sure no one else came after them.
They’re worthless trash—cheap for a reason.

For the record
I successfully repaired a few CPU cables. I acquired an original Chieftec cable for a day and verified the connections using a multimeter. I also obtained some Corsair cables and a pin removal tool from Aliexpress. The re-pinning process was straightforward.

One PSU has been operating in a very power-demanding retro setup for over three years without any issues, running quietly (FX5950 + RX590 Crossfire). Another is experiencing some sluggishness in a newer Ryzen system. I also have a third one, which will be coming soon. These PSUs appear to offer good value...
