I purchased a new CPU (Ryzen 5700G) and it arrived sooner than expected, so I powered everything off and swapped out my old unit. The new one already had a few bent pins, which I repaired as best I could before installing it. After pressing the power button, lights, fans, and other components came on for about half a second before I shut it down instantly. Now nothing powers up at all. When I tried inserting the old CPU again, it still wouldn’t turn on and didn’t respond. I searched numerous websites and forums, but no solution seemed to work. This is becoming my last resort since I’m certain there’s a specific problem that no other advice has addressed. I’ve tried almost everything and am hesitant to proceed without a repair shop visit or a new motherboard. My specs are: GPU – GeForce GTX 1660 Super, CPU – Ryzen 5 5600G (previous), RAM – two Corsair Vengeance LPX sticks (16 GB), SSD – 256GB drive. Power supply is also unknown to me.

It seems like you're experiencing no improvement despite trying both CPU options. It might be worth checking other factors or seeking further assistance.

They replaced the pins on a fresh CPU rather than sending it back for repair because it’s easier and faster. There’s a chance a pin might become lodged in the socket, so doing it yourself helps avoid damage.

They were simple to repair and I had the right tools. Plus, I don’t have a warranty because I purchased it from eBay. I verified that none of the pins are stuck in the socket. If they were, I wouldn’t be able to replace the CPU or test each one multiple times, which I have already done.

Are you sure your bios is current? (It probably doesn’t really matter) That upgrade looks pretty disappointing—why did you get a G-series CPU when a discrete GPU was available? It seems like nothing is happening. Could be a simple oversight. Let’s disconnect everything and reattach just the essentials. Also, inspect the connectors on the PSU side. No GPU, just one RAM stick and no fan. Edited July 5, 2025 by leclod

I’ve already tried all the advice you gave, and it doesn’t change how I decide to buy this. I wasn’t there to be judged on what I choose; I came looking for answers about why it fails and how to fix it. I don’t need your thoughts—my goal is to get my PC working again.

I’m human too and have my own flaws, but I still shared the idea. You should have heard it!
