I've verified the setup is correct. I confirmed the cable was connected, updated the BIOS from FB to FH using the i7-950 on Gigabyte's tool, and saved after changing settings. The system booted normally with Xeon at default configurations. No mistakes detected.

Verify the presence of a fan header on your CPU fan connector for the Asus P6X58DE and X5670 models. This issue may affect performance.

Thanks for the feedback! The PC started up with the old RAM, but now it works fine with the Xeon CPU. My newer RAM (i7 920) doesn’t seem to fit with the Xeon setup. I’ve also tried a BIOS update and used a USB flash drive, but it keeps showing “file corrupted.” I followed the guides carefully and made sure the USB was in fat32 format.

The Gigabyte page clearly indicates support for the X5650: http://www.gigabyte.de/Support/Getcpulis...Value=3265 (German site).

Thanks a lot for the great response! The updates are now functioning properly. I noticed the BIOS QFLASH update was larger than expected (2MB vs 1MB), so I had to use the @BIOS feature to proceed. Everything is working perfectly now! Great job on your help—thank you very much!

You're experiencing the same issue, but you've got a different Xeon model installed while your ASUS setup is still using the X58 Rampage 2 Extreme. When you switch from the Xeon W5580 to the Xeon X5660, the system doesn't boot properly, though all fans are activating. It seems like the CPU change alone isn't resolving the problem.
