I've put a fresh CPU in a friend's older machine, but the upgrade didn't work. After updating the BIOS and swapping components, the system failed to boot. I checked thermal paste, fan connections, and even reset CMOS, but nothing changed. The LED stayed on briefly before everything froze. I'm worried about damaging my friend's PC. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I might install the older CPU and check its performance, then let you know if it functions properly or if further problems exist.

You might have slightly bent a pin or loosened a connection, like a cable or wire. Make sure all components are securely connected before testing. If nothing changes, look for bent pins or any signs of damage in the socket.

No power comes from the motherboard except for a faint blue light near the front, probably the indicator for the system being powered on, yet there are no fans running or any sound.

Use one RAM module to help identify the problem. If the issue persists, test with another stick; this should point to the RAM since replacements are straightforward.
