Replace the failing chipset fan with a 120mm model.
Hey everyone, I'm working on my x570 ASRock ITX board and the active chipset fan is struggling. I'm planning to unplug it and take out the shroud for better access, then swap it in with a Noctua 120mm intake from the back. Do you think this upgrade will provide sufficient cooling or might it create issues?
It's interesting I've been thinking about this for a while. The X570 chipset uses around 11 watts and can be cooled passively. Der8auer successfully did this with his X570 setup, and everything functioned properly. This photo isn't from Der8bauer, just swap the thermal pad, assemble everything, and add a fan. Monitor the temperatures and you're done.
