Repairable or New HD?
My electricity went out and came back on. My computer usually restarts quickly, but this time it took around 40 minutes just to turn itself off and back on. I had to hard boot it several times, press the button three times when the logo appeared, etc. Now it seems to be working again. Other issues include FireFox using a lot of memory and hanging for a long time.
I think some data—like my Steam account, photos, etc.—might have been lost from the D: drive. I’m not sure if this is due to a hardware problem. There are two drives (C: and D), but suddenly an E: drive appeared (the location isn’t clear). I got a new drive for free! Disk Management shows more details, but I don’t know what to do with it. I have images, but uploading or attaching files causes the program to freeze. It lists the E: drive as Disk 1 and also Disk 2, which is my C: drive. Disk 0 is D: drive.

When trying to inspect the new E: drive or partitions, it shows “The Parameter is Incorrect.”
I ran chkdsk on all drives for about 6 hours and got “healthy” results. The fsck tool found corrupt files and fixed them, but nothing changed. The CBS.log file was long, and I’m not sure what it means.
Could the E: drive be recoverable? Or should I consider replacing my hard drive?
Appreciate any advice you can give.

12-13-2016, 01:40 AM #5The file system is damaged and needs a replacement 2TB drive for storing recovered information. After acquiring the new drive, employ data recovery tools to retrieve lost files. I've successfully used getdataback; its free version lets you verify potential recoveries, though the full version isn't free.

I really appreciate your confidence, as it motivates me to proceed. If I use the free version of getdataback, which drive should I scan? I believe it's the D drive, though I'm not certain. The same applies if I choose to format. sfc /scannow indicated files were corrupted but fixed; chkdsk confirmed everything was fine. Is HDtune still necessary before using getdataback?
Make an educated assumption...
TLDR - Drive E is the issue; HDtune will indicate physical damage.
Thus, it's either in good condition or damaged and needs replacement.

12-23-2016, 10:25 AM #10Ekhm... it looks really bad. Could you also share a screenshot from HDtune in the health section? Also, please verify with Samsung Magician. The Crucial MX500 seems like a solid option. It appears they might have stopped making this model, but it's still available.
