Repair Win7 Pro and Ultimate to work again.
I recently embarked on a journey into my PC's inner workings after moving my operating system from an SSD to an NVMe drive (remember, if the motherboard lacks an NVMe port, it’s best not to attempt using it on a PCI-e riser for booting). During this process, I ventured through what felt like a PC valley of near-death experiences, with intense concerns about reinstalling software. As a final option, I tried using my Windows 7 DVD to fix the OS. Fortunately, it worked as expected. Now, every time I start up, I see the bootloader prompting me between Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate. Choosing Ultimate displays a black screen with flickering cursors on the top-left, while Pro shows a nice wallpaper and taskbar. My goal is to resolve this without an emergency—just a small inconvenience. I’m curious about removing the Ultimate option and want to explore ZorinOS as a potential replacement before Windows 10 becomes available. Thanks.
Consider attempting to rebuild bootrec from the installation disc 2.
