In recent days I checked all available versions of the Cycles render engine in Blender. I set up a test scene featuring five balls with various materials—diffuse, mix of diffuse and glossy, mix of glossy, glass, diffuse, emission, glass, and glossy. The lighting comes from a point lamp, and two planes use emission shaders. Here’s how it looks:
