You're looking for a straightforward approach to transfer your OS onto the SSD while keeping your HDD files intact. There are cleaner methods available compared to the common practices you mentioned. Consider using a tool like GParted or DiskPart to partition your HDD, move the OS installation files to a new partition, and then format that partition as needed. This way, you can safely delete the old OS without affecting your data on the HDD.

Sure, you can simply move it if you don't have room constraints.

Don't remove the operating system. Just ensure you boot from the SSD so you can reach all your files via Windows Explorer on the HDD. Also, avoid connecting the HDD during the installation of Windows onto the SSD, as it might cause issues.

Create a snapshot of the drive using Acronis True Image, selecting only Windows-sensitive files and not all your data. Then upload the image to the SSD. Free Trial Available: http://www.acronis.com/en-us/personal/pc-backup/

This tool is free for personal use. I've applied it thousands of times during setups and faced no issues. I wouldn't suggest Acronis to anyone. Still, it's not the only option—Norton Ghost is also reliable and widely accepted.

Acronis is the sole tool I've relied on to meet my requirements... It seems we're on opposite sides of this issue.

It's great to see you're enjoying it and using it freely. I understand you're cautious about free options—whether paid or not is up to you. Just me 😊

Sorry for the bump. Could I simply install Windows on the SSD and leave it connected to the HDD? Should I remove the existing drivers or install new ones on the SSD? Also, since my parts arrived this morning, what’s the best way to proceed?
