The video just ended and caused an issue, making it hard to use the RAM slots on the other two ports. I disabled XMP for MSI PRO Z790-A WIFI and used the device without the clip, keeping the chassis stable on the table. It’s unclear how severe the problem is, but I’m considering replacing the board or finding a DIY solution to secure it upright. Any suggestions would be helpful?

DIMMs sit securely in their slots. For best stability, ensure the retaining clip is properly secured so the DIMM doesn’t move during transport. If left on the desk long-term, it should work fine without issues. The main concern comes when you need to take it out—because the clip functions as a release lever. Handle carefully to avoid damaging the DIMM later.

As shown in the photo, the clip is completely detached and no longer attached to its base. There’s a noticeable gap between the two sides of the slot. I wasn’t sure it would function, but it does. I might need a simple homemade tool to secure the two sides together.

Consider executing MemTest86 to check for memory-related issues. It might appear functional, but hidden problems could still arise from RAM concerns.

Ensure they are completely seated. Firmly place them into the socket until they remain still. Maintain a warm environment and inspect periodically to monitor for any movement.
