I think your BIOS needs to accommodate this for it to function properly. For an operating system, I’d suggest Ubuntu, though you haven’t shared much about your requirements. Another possibility is setting up a Linux distribution on a flash drive, using a thin client there, and connecting via SSH to your server—perhaps Debian on the server or Ubuntu as well.
