I recently purchased an SSD to replace my Windows installation, but I struggled to transfer my existing Windows setup to it. Now I want to move my current Windows from the old hard drive to the SSD, so only the new version remains there while the old drive stays as storage. Anyone can help me understand how to do this?

Ensure the drive is disconnected physically before formatting. Windows sometimes places boot files on the original installation drive, and formatting might stop it from starting. This is important because simply formatting won’t restore all your space if you also need to delete old partitions like EFI or recovery.

It requires more than just a standard drive format for proper setup. If you're not starting from it, consider deleting the boot partitions. You can restore the drive using DiskPart in the admin command prompt, but be cautious not to erase the new drive.
