You can remove that annoying icon from your taskbar easily. Just follow these steps: A to B to C, then return to A. In Windows 10, you can also use the Settings app or the Task Manager to delete it quickly.
Click right to open the security dashboard. Address or ignore the reminders it sends. You also have options to turn off notification alerts so they don’t interrupt you during scans. In Taskbar settings, adjust the icons list and ensure the security notification icon is hidden under "more icons."
Turned off all alerts, but it remains visible. Believed I cleared everything and the symbol turned green. Seems I successfully muted notifications. Also thought system scans were disabled, but the icon stays and now appears as a green element. It’s currently hidden in “more icons” as shown in the screenshot. Previously set it during my last Windows setup.
I successfully stopped the process, and it's no longer active. Now I'm trying to find a way to stop it from starting during a reboot.
You seem to be asking why someone would want to eliminate Windows Defender entirely. It might mean you're considering alternative security solutions or simply disregarding traditional protection.
It’s best not to turn off the service unless you need a much worse alternative. I guess your dislike of this icon is just because it’s yellow or orange. What does it mean? Should we update the definitions? Did it detect any malware? Why is it colored that way? Also, you can’t disable Defender unless you switch to a less capable antivirus. You should reset the settings and turn off notifications only if it actually finds something. Ironically, Windows runs better with Defender enabled than without, as shown by "Jayc2cents" (lol).
