Remove the screw from the stripped SSD.
Remove the screw from the stripped SSD.
You encountered a stripped screw on the Gen 4 SSD heatsink. A safe approach is to use a flathead screwdriver or a small Phillips head tool to gently pry the screw out without damaging the surrounding components. If that doesn’t work, consider using a screw removal tool designed for SSDs or carefully applying heat with a soldering iron to loosen it. Always handle the motherboard carefully to avoid further damage.
How severely it will be stripped? The rubber band trick might help. (Place a rubber band over the screw, one layer, then attempt to turn it with a screwdriver.)
It seems like the attempt didn't work well. The rubber trick didn't help move the screw.
I think it's hidden inside a heatsink where you can't reach with pliers. In the past I've gently exposed a little bit by loosening some screws, let it dry overnight, then take it out. Just be careful not to apply any adhesive where it shouldn't be. You'll need something strong like epoxy or JB Weld, not just regular glue. Make sure you've tried other methods first. Drilling is possible but not ideal—be extra cautious. Even then, cover the area with tape to catch any metal shavings and consider blowing it out thoroughly.
Yeah the heat sink isn't letting me get a grip with pliers I don't have any glue to even try that. And as for the metal shavings I can't see any on my case I did see they were getting stuck to my screwdriver but I didn't blow any air after closing my case up and restarting my pc
