Hi, I received the BSOD yesterday and tried some fixes. Someone suggested reinstalling Windows 8 alongside the existing version, which I did. Now I want to remove it because my SSD still holds about 1.3TB of Steam games I don’t want to re-download. I’m having trouble accessing anything from the original OS, any advice?

Check if everything is on the same hard drive. If yes, move your old files into a folder named windows.old in C:\ unless you changed the drive settings. Also, you didn’t have to reinstall Windows to resolve the BSOD issue.

To ensure all issues are resolved, a fresh installation is necessary—not just fixing the immediate problem. You can set up Windows 8.1 on a bootable USB using the provided link. The system will generate a Windows.old folder with old data, so relocate your Steam apps to the new installation and check your game cache before starting. For additional guidance, refer to the support article at the given URL.
