It seems the 8-pin connector is likely intact and just needs proper handling. The issue might lie with the power supply or the cable itself, rather than desoldering parts. You can still test other components before making changes.

Would you think it makes sense that without a CPU, it would simply restart? That way, if the CPU is turned off but everything else works, it wouldn’t just reset everything. Also, without a CPU, it might lack the needed instructions to operate properly. Thanks for your guidance—probably the board is beyond repair, but I’d have liked a fix at a lower cost.

The PSU was replaced with an older model and a different cable was used. I’m pretty sure it’s not the problem.

I checked my VRM after your comment and noticed it had a sticky residue. I don’t recall the last time something got messy on my desktop... Anyway, I cleaned it by submerging the VRM and the 8-pin connector in 91% IPA, and it no longer restarts repeatedly. It stays on but doesn’t show any activity. No output appears on the screen. Does this suggest anything?

No, I didn't mix the PSU cables.

They each come with their own collection. I maintained both. Mixing them could cause issues, what might happen?

It seems unlikely. It might have been a brief setup, but that's not very probable. Certain boards can loop endlessly if the CPU is faulty or missing, while others remain idle.

It could damage your PC if you combine them.

If the person believes their CPU is malfunctioning, they can attempt to use a different CPU to determine if the issue persists.

He had previously talked about certain X99 motherboards raising the Vcore to 2V, damaging CPUs, and would do the same to any CPU that came after them. I think I’ll just enjoy experimenting with this board and see what happens. Maybe try the 5820k to check if it works. Probably not. Thanks for your advice!
