You’ve upgraded to Windows 10 and ran disk cleanup, but the old installation folder is still present. The directory shows up as C:Windows.old\Windows\System32\DriverStore with a permission warning. To fix this, you’ll need to grant the necessary system access so the cleanup tool can fully remove it.

Yes, there are several options besides merging. You could consider splitting, using parallel processing, or applying data transformation techniques.

Lots of people drink and drive and never kill anyone. Doesn't make it a good idea Anyway, you might personally have never had any issues, but that was just sheer blind luck. By merging the folders, you run the risk of old OS System Files being used (or attempted to be used) by the new OS, or in worst case, the possibility of overwriting good current OS system files with ones from an older version of Windows. Simply put, you might risk that with yourself, but please don't ever recommend it to anyone - especially a newb (no offense OP lol).

I didn't find anything in my folder except the .old files, excluding hidden ones. I'll keep trying and will continue recommending it. Thanks.

You mentioned checking both "Hidden Files and Folders" and "Protected Operating System Files." Those are distinct settings in the view options. It's surprising they're empty, especially since the original post includes the DriverStore folder, which isn't blank. As someone interested in tech, I’d expect you to value understanding proper procedures over quick fixes.
