It seems anydesk might be a bit costly. For a week, the lowest license cost is 15 per month or an annual bill. Maybe I should explore using a VPN instead.

Using a VPN wouldn't require you to open that port. You just wanted to avoid opening it, right?

Consider Parsec and similar platforms. They are built for gaming and usually offer superior performance and compatibility compared to RDP. You won’t need to set up port forwarding.

I attempted to use Softether. I followed every instruction carefully, but it still doesn't function outside my local network. It seems this might not be the right solution. Appreciate all the guidance provided.

I experimented with the VPN for several hours across three machines. While checking Parsec, I noticed a fee. Eventually, I gave up and returned. No charges involved, and it performs better than Microsoft’s version. Thanks again!

You must redirect the VPN server’s port, enabling external access. This provides a separate port instead of using the standard RDP port 3389.
