I've received a lot of emails—seventy-seven thousand unread ones. I'm using Outlook.com in Chrome, and I've cleared old newsletters, but searching only shows 75 at a time, so deleting everything feels incomplete. Any ideas? And I also use Gmail for regular messages.

Check for settings that let you adjust rules based on keywords like pharmacy or CVS in the subject or body. Move emails with those terms to the trash or mark them as spam. Run this filter on your inbox and clear the trash.

Rather than removing unwanted emails by hand, label them as spam. This allows the spam filter to recognize spam patterns and handle them automatically.

Store files locally following these guidelines: keep items older than [date] in the archive, and move files larger than [size] to the local directory.

It’s not really junk mail; it’s more about how storage has grown over time. I’ve rarely had to remove an email in the past two decades thanks to increasing space. Most messages you see are filtered as spam and cleared after a month. The ones that bother me come from companies where I previously purchased or plan to buy something, sending me numerous pages of sales emails daily. I attempted to set up a rule for one such sender, but it didn’t work well. When I asked it to move old emails from last week to my deleted folder, it accidentally removed 10,000 random messages instead. There are no archive rules visible, but that was a useful approach.

I believe the "spam" database in Outlook is stored locally, so you'll need to input addresses manually. You can add common terms to remove unwanted items. You can transfer this list to your "spam" folder without mixing it with other files. When setting up rules, they will automatically process your emails according to your preferences. Organize your files accordingly, and note that moving everything may take some time. Since your IMAP Google folder is online in the cloud while your local file remains on-site, it shouldn't restrict you to more than 75 emails per transfer.
