My findings indicate that the Resident Evil PC adaptation wasn<|pad|>’s decision wasn’t driven by poor taste or mistranslations. It didn’t signal players to expect the intense content of Resident Evil 4’s initial PC launch. Although not overly flawed, Capcom is increasingly focused on reviving classic titles, which is why they’ve refreshed Resident Evil 1 for PC and consoles. This updated version draws from the 2002 Gamecube re-release—a format that introduced fresh visuals, systems, settings, and narrative elements. The 2015 version will also support 5.1 surround sound, improved textures, higher resolutions, and lets users choose between the traditional 4:3 format or a modern 16:9 display. Moreover, an alternative to the game’s notorious tank controls is introduced: fans who prefer the original feel can opt for a new system where movement aligns directly with the analog stick, matching today’s gaming standards. The classic controls stay for purists, while a modern alternative is available. At any stage of gameplay, players can switch between these options—balancing authenticity and convenience. For details, watch the video featuring Capcom’s developers Tatsuya Kitabayashi and Yoshiaki Hirabyashi discussing the new release. Resident Evil is scheduled for early 2015 on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, offering a comprehensive gateway to the ongoing terror and immersive experience of Microsoft’s entertainment platform.

I prefer to run it on my GameCube emulator, which is a lot better than Crapcom's slow and messy versions.

I've actually run my Wii version on Dolphin and it works perfectly. Here are more details about it. Still, I'm hoping to get it on Steam with better textures. I wouldn't expect to spend more than ten dollars for it.
