Relaxing with games?
Relaxing with games?
Absolutely in favor. Ck3, Victoria, Civilization and similar content are perfect for relaxing while enjoying an audiobook with my wife or chatting while she knits on the couch.
This encouragement feels too shallow. To truly improve, explore your self-awareness and understand what you value in games. Consider why certain types of games appeal to you beyond just the surface features. If new games don’t align with your core preferences or feelings, it’s worth sticking with what you know works. Those who can’t explain their likes yet dismiss new titles often fear change. Developing this insight helped me notice, for example, that I enjoy tactical roguelites due to their variety and engaging loops, which are crucial for games with repetitive patterns. A compelling story is important if you prefer less interactive experiences.
It's commonly referred to as Overwatch, but the original version isn't available for play anymore.
For this topic, Borderlands 3 comes to mind, though you might want to consider its average story and dated humor. It's a solid looter shooter, the weapons are enjoyable, and I've already spent 280 hours playing.
I'm a weathered 80s gamer, and ya everything kind of blurs together and gets boring. I will say that right now I'm really enjoying using all the moves I know combo'd together to knock the crap out of people in Spider Man Miles Morales. Great graphics and once you get good at the combat your can really slap some baddies around. Not super difficult or easy to get stuck in. Requires a lot of button memorization but great fun. Red Dead 2 is a comfort game. Everyone's played GTA and the skills transfer over easily. You can spend a few hours just exploring, helping randos, and hunting buffalo. People still play starcraft 2. It looks like crap in 2023 but people are playing it, and you can get (part of) the game free on battlenet. If you played SC1 in the 90s (everyone did) you'll feel at home. Easy to learn RTS with a lot of depth. If you like FPS you could try getting into some other games in the genre. If single player is your thing (sounds like it if you like Q2) you might like High on Life. I feel like the execution of the game is half-assed but it's not difficult and the smack talking alive-guns are fun to listen to. Pretty laid back game. There are also the 2 modern Doom games, 2016 and Eternal. I think Eternal kind of lost the plot in terms of what a Doom game should feel like but it's fun. 2016 on max difficulty is awesome once you learn to fly around and curb stomp enemies. If you want to try an RTS that not a lot of people played back in the 90s/2000s but is excellent and has a semi-good remaster, try the homeworld remastered collection. Pretty cheap on Steam and sort of like starcraft with starships. The addition of a 3rd spatial dimension makes for interesting strategy. Frustrating to learn but very "cozy" once you do. The 3 modern Tomb Raider games are a lot of fun, as is the Uncharted collection on PC. Not especially difficult games overall except for some annoying puzzles, good graphics, enjoyable. If you enjoy being terrified, "The Quarry" is excellent as are the "Dark Pictures" games from Supermassive. Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes are also phenomenal. I did not enjoy village and RE 7. Resi should not be an FPS that just ruins it. Also brings it from terrifying to nightmare fuel which is not my cup of tea.
