Sometimes it's tough to embrace new things, even with fresh hardware. I tend to stick with what I know, like playing Doom or Quake 2 on an RTX card. The System Shock remake is a nice choice because it feels familiar yet offers a new experience. Comfort gaming can definitely help—think of it like enjoying a favorite meal. If you're looking for someone with a similar vibe, consider players who appreciate classic titles and cozy gameplay.

Have you ever enjoyed Gothic games? Archolos feels like a perfect trip down memory lane. It was around the early 2000s, and nostalgia really plays a big role.

I tend to stick with what feels familiar when there’s nothing exciting new. (That’s usually the case) But sometimes I stumble upon something I really enjoy, and I dive into it for months or even years. That’s why I’m drawn to fighting games—they keep changing, and each match feels fresh. Right now I’m playing Overwatch, and I wish I’d tried it sooner because it’s so fun. The graphics, art style, humor, and the variety in every match make it special, just like fighting games.

Hard to say I ever tried a truly gothic game before Diablo and then moved on to Diablo 2.

It seems like a European influence was involved. For someone new to the scene, Archolos could appear overwhelming at first (controls). However, the Witcher series is enjoyable for all ages.

I often play games for a few nights each quarter, though I’m not playing much anymore. Civ 1 or 2 work well for that, simple to pick up for a long session. Ten years ago you’d still notice me regularly spamming bots in Unreal Tournament CTF a few times a week.

This series also has a long history, covering several decades. It runs from about 2 to 3 titles depending on the count. I hope the newer releases are more enjoyable. Xenonauts 1 and the upcoming 2 feel especially nostalgic for classic X-COM fans.

My peers enjoyed more of that. Turn-based battles weren’t my forte, but I still have fond memories from those days. Back then, I actually played several point-and-click adventures. In recent years, Telltale continued producing them until they shut down. I believe the Grim Fandango remaster improved the controls, though I often find myself hesitant to start. I went through the first two Broken Sword titles a while back using ScummVM. They’re perfect for extended sessions at night.
