Hello people. Been following you guys for a while. I have an annoying issue. I have quad ram kit tridentZ rgb 4000mhz (specified speed for quad kit) 128gb ram (4x32). The kit worked fine on older i9 9900k and Aorus Z390 Xtreme lga 1151 (minor stability issue) it worked on advertised speed of 4000. Boot and all. However, i moved the ram kit on my working pc: Aorus x570 xtreme rev 1.1 with ryzed 5950x. I am unable to enable xmp of 4000. 3600/3733 works fine on stability test so i assume there is juice somewhere for aditional mhz. Note that ive been not using amd for more than a decade. I tried manual timings, voltage, latest bios, manual frequency but it just does not want to go over above said frequency which is kinda weird given that this is superior board and cpu in every way than my mentioned older config where it worked. Board itself supports crazy mhz so not sure what is the issue anymore. I even tried rising voltage slowlt to 1.42 (1.40 is xmp voltage) and tried increasing timings and stuff. Do you have any suggestions? Any settings? Similar experiences? Than you in advance.
These kits don't always work well just by turning on XMP/DOCP. Running at Quad Rank at fast speeds puts a huge strain on the memory controller; you'll likely need to adjust many parameters and be fortunate to find a CPU with a capable memory controller. For Ryzen processors, boosting DRAM speed also means overclocking the Infinity Fabric—at 4000MHz you may need to stabilize it down to 2000MHz first. You should probably tweak SOC, VDDG, VDDP, VMEM, VTT voltages and experiment with different procODT settings.
Hello. Small update. I personally selected and tested among dozen of ram sticks/sets for silicon grade. I got one I wanted and that managed to increase more than a previous one. Currently running Trident Z Royal Gold @3866 (kit is rated for 4000) 4x32 (128gb ram) and System is 100% stable. Previous kit didnt want to go more than 3600/3733. I have total stability on current kit at 3866mhz speed. I tweaked nothing. Only thing I did is to enable XMP and lowered freq from 4000 to 3866 and it worked perfectly. However, nothing more than 3866 can be achieved this way, when I set it to 4000 the PC refuses to boast and there are several preboot shutdowns until in bios I see stock speeds but same freq set. Having said that. I am certain I can squeeze somehow this remaining freq margin to 4000. I tried increasing voltage a tiny little for both ram and soc and setting manually IF to 2000 (was auto) but again, it failed to load and post. There is some juice and space for speed left in RAM for sure but something else is causing issue. I can settle for 3866mhz but 4000 is what I am aiming for. My PC specs are the following: CPU: Ryzen 5950X (set to auto boost without override) MB: Aorus x570 Xtreme rev 1.1 (latest bios - they still need to update and fix many stuff) GPU: 2x Aorus Xtreme 2080ti (custom water built by myself, was an WB version before with 1 radiator for each card and short tubing).
