I'm checking whether switching to Windows 10 would cancel your warranty for the MSI GE60 laptop. It seems the product hasn't been updated to its original condition, so warranty coverage might be affected. No official statements from the company have been found regarding this specific upgrade.

Many businesses promoted buying Windows 8.1 now and upgrading later. Probably in a few weeks they'll include it. It seems unlikely this would cancel the warranty, so you could always reinstall 8.1 or 7 if needed.

Inquire about it, though I question if it would be possible.

It seems the warranty might still be valid. MSI is likely releasing updates for Windows 10 on other systems, which could mean they’re not ignoring your claim. You could argue they’re hypocritical if they don’t act on it.

It doesn't cancel your warranty. But if you require it sent to MSI for fixing, be prepared for the original Windows 8 (or 8.1) to be reinstalled on the hard drive upon return.

I wouldn't bring my laptop along when the hard drive is already installed. (still a chromebook)

It shouldn't be this way. If you're concerned, reach out to them, though updating to the newest Windows version likely won't affect your warranty.

Have issues like a laptop if you send it without the HDD, they could refuse warranty support because essential components are missing. Also, a failing HDD is the most common failure point in any system. Always keep your data backed up to an external drive when working with Warranty Service on a computer.
