Hello everyone, I’m a long-time PC builder and this is my first time posting. I recently upgraded my system to a 9800x3d motherboard with a B650 chipset, 32GB DDR5 6000 RAM, and a 2TB 980 Pro SSD. All other parts—power supply, graphics card, cooling solution—came from my previous build and have always worked fine.

The problem I’m facing is that when I wake up my PC from sleep, it restarts after about 20 seconds. There’s no blue screen of death, just a brief reboot. From a cold boot, everything runs smoothly for hours, but the moment I power it back on and switch to sleep/wake, it restarts again. Hibernate doesn’t have this issue either.

I’ve checked Event Viewer, looked at Microsoft forums, and explored Reddit threads about similar events. I tried adjusting power plans, disabling global C-states in BIOS, and changed RAM configurations. The Event Viewer only shows codes 41 and 1074, which point to a reboot without a clean shutdown and a power-off event for the Windows login process.

I’ve also reinstalled Windows on two different SSDs, removed the GPU, used only onboard graphics, reduced RAM to one stick at a time, swapped out my PSU, and even ran diagnostics with Prime95, OCCT, and MemTest86. All tests came back clean—no errors.

I’m pretty sure the issue lies in the RAM. I’ve ruled out most hardware except for memory, motherboard, and CPU. Since I’m new to this setup, any advice would be invaluable. Thanks in advance!

Used neutralized s3 sleep circuits, executed powecfg on Windows and captured screenshots. Possible issue: budget motherboard experiencing problems with s3.

It appears the system experienced a power loss during hibernation, which is unusual, and the computer restarted to retrieve data from hiberfil.sys.

I faced the same problem with Teamgroup (T-Force/T-Create) RAM. Changing to Crucial RAM resolved it. Other people on Reddit also reported success using Corsair RAM. It looks like Teamgroup RAM doesn’t pair well with the 9800X3D.

I face the same problem again. My setup includes a Gigabyte 9800X3D, an X870 Eagle Wifi7 motherboard, and 32GB of TeamGroup RAM. Initially, everything worked perfectly after assembly. After updating to the latest BIOS (F3i), I had to reinstall Windows 11. The process was complicated because the system locked me out until I reset the passcode, which I couldn’t do due to missing backup access. Following the update, my PC would restart every 20 seconds when it slept. Although I suspect a connection between the F3i BIOS and TeamGroup RAM, I’m unsure. I’m curious about other users’ BIOS versions. Previously, the internet functioned poorly on the original BIOS from July 2024, causing long hangs during logins. The update resolved the issue completely.

An update for my situation. Turns out I need Thunderbolt on my computer for work, and so I had to swap out my motherboard and processor with an intel board and CPU. The TeamGroup RAM works fine with the new motherboard/CPU. So it does seem to confirm it was likely an issue with the RAM and the 9800X3D. Probably anyways, given what people are saying here.

I notice a recurring issue, likely tied to the same root cause. Here are your details:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X 4.7 GHz 6-core processor
CPU Cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE ARGB 66.17 CFM
Motherboard: Gigabyte B650M D3HP AX Micro ATX AM5
Memory: TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30
Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME SSD
GPU: Zotac GAMING Twin Edge OC GeForce RTX 3050 8GB
Case: Fractal Design Pop Mini Silent MicroATX Mid Tower
Power Supply: Gigabyte UD750GM 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX

I plan to request a refund on the RAM and explore solutions from Corsair or other trusted brands. This appears to be a hardware-related problem, consistent across Fedora 41 and Windows 11 24H2.

I verified the issue stemmed from hardware incompatibility. After swapping the Teamgroup RAM with a model listed as compatible by the motherboard maker, the problem was resolved.

I also verified the reboot from sleep with identical RAM modules after replacing the motherboard. Updating the BIOS to version 4a, which was recently released, resolved the problem. The latest BIOS notes improved memory compatibility. CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800 X3D Motherboard: GIGABYTE X870I AORUS PRO ICE Memory: TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Video Card: Zotac GeForce GTX 970 (Definitely!) I’m hoping this also helps others.

I'm experiencing the same issue on my new Intel system. When I wake it up from sleep within 20-30 seconds, everything works fine. However, if I wake it after that, it restarts almost immediately—usually in just 1 to 2 seconds. It's possible that others using AMD processors might be facing a different problem. The powercfg settings indicate only Intel CPUs are supported, but the RAM and motherboard combination was included in a bundled package at Micro Center, suggesting compatibility testing may have been done.
