Registry problems with USB storage devices
I set up Windows on a brand-new PC that already had DOS installed (as of 28-09-2024). The installation was carried out using a CD via an external reader. Throughout this process, the machine remained offline and no USB drives were employed. Afterward, I also added Microsoft Office to the system using another CD through the same external reader. Before handing it over, I reviewed the registry for USB storage entries, focusing on the USBSTOR key. At that moment, only the external CD reader was listed. Once the army began connecting to their local network, a new USB device appeared in the registry, matching the serial number of the original CD reader. This entry had a timestamp of 01-10-2024, aligning with the LAN connection date. During this period, no other devices were connected. I’m trying to figure out why the registry recorded another USB entry with the same serial number, especially since nothing new was plugged in.
