Hello everyone, I'm facing a major issue with my self-built PC. It wasn't purchased, but I got: CPU - I3-8100, RAM - HyperX 16GB, 2666MHZ, Graphics Card - Asus ROG STRIX GTX 1080 MB, and a recently upgraded motherboard with an I7-9700F. However, the VGA light stays on and prevents booting. I've tried everything, but it's not working. Can anyone help me figure out what's going on?

Welcome to the forums. When you mention trying everything, please specify what you actually attempted so we avoid suggesting already tried solutions. Could your motherboard be using a BIOS version prior to the 9700F release? That’s unlikely to be the issue, but your RAM might be installed in the incorrect slots.

I updated the BIOS right away—it's the latest version I discovered. I switched the CPU cooler. The RAM now uses a different one, and I checked the ASUS site; the VGA indicator suggests an issue with the built-in graphics or the GPU.

Ensure no graphics are installed. Insert RAM into the correct port—consider testing with just one stick. Have another GPU available for confirmation?

I attempted without using the graphics card, but the system won’t work without it, even if other issues exist. Using a different graphics card might help identify the problem. Have you tried reinstalling the old CPU?
