Refreshing user profiles for ASUS TUF X670E with Wi-Fi support
Hi I'm experiencing some weird crashes lately. I'm not running the latest bios, but kept the current one because it resolved the voltage issues and it was running stable anyways, until recently that is. The crashes are not the same, sometimes my screen just shuts off, but the pc keeps running (music keeps playing in the background, can still control the game I was playing). Othertimes it's a hard crash. I've tried removing a ram stick and also removed expo settings and pbo in the bios, but to no avail. So my last resort is updating the bios. Cpu is 7800x3d. The question is how can I make this foolproof? I know how to do it, but I've read numerous instances of it failing etc. I need my pc daily, so I can't miss it waiting for replacement parts. Should I make two usb sticks, one with the new bios, the other with the current one? Another stick for reinstalling windows if for some reason that fails too? Back up data beforehand? Thanks
Have you checked for chipset driver updates? https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/...t-am5/x670 Additionally, your board's USB BIOS flashback feature can help prevent damaging the device.
I refreshed the bios and there were no issues. The chipset drivers were current. If the problem reappears, I'll attempt to reseat the CPU. Another point I overlooked is that it consistently occurred during gaming, regardless of the game, especially under heavy load. Thanks!
Give it a go and observe the results. Consider running it with and without the expo feature activated. Keep other settings on their default values.
It was stable until recently, with two consecutive crashes. I disassembled it, cleared everything and reinstalled (except the CPU because thermal paste isn’t available). I found some advice online suggesting the GPU fans might be overheating due to power problems, though the system is brand new. Running Cyberpunk at full settings for extended periods worked without issues, but less demanding titles caused problems. The card operates around 320W max even at 70% power. At 100% power target it also failed, despite drawing only about 320W. I recall the 4090 typically needs a 850W supply, but the manufacturer suggests 850W for this model since it’s not overclockable. With the CPU capping at 80W, I’m hoping the PSU isn’t the bottleneck. Also worth noting is a HWiNFO entry showing GPU core output exceeding 600W, while actual input stays under 320W.
