Refreshing profiles for AMD
I have a Ryzen 1600 with an ASUS ROG STRIX B350-F motherboard from around Christmas 2017. I only changed the BIOS once, it’s currently version 3203 from January 2018. I’m looking to fix minor gaming performance issues, so updating the BIOS is my goal. There are 13 newer versions after 3203 to keep up with updates. My concern is whether I can simply flash the latest update from 2020 and it will work, or if I need to go through each version one by one to prevent problems. ASUS doesn’t clearly state which path to take. Thanks for your assistance!
afaik you just install the latest one. No point in going through all versions in between.
Review the information carefully before proceeding, as different BIOS versions may work with various CPU generations. It’s important not to switch support without ensuring compatibility. I checked and it looks safe to move to the newest BIOS, but don’t forget to refresh the AMD Chipset Driver—download the latest directly from AMD’s website.
I just went through each update summary. It doesn’t mention removing Ryzen 1 St Gen support. The newest BIOS now points to version 1004B, and after checking, it shouldn’t impact the older models. I’m leaning in, hoping it works.
Finished the flash operation—it felt a bit intense since it took longer than a typical BIOS update. It needed resetting about two times, but once it stabilized everything is working well so far. Yes, I updated the chipset drivers earlier this morning via the AMD website, thank you all.
